DELSPECial is a Recursive Command Launcher, a Recursive File Deleter, a File Finder, and a Batch Enhancement Tool all in one.
Deletes files across-directories saving deleted files' names in C:\Temp\DELETED.LST. You can look for some surprises here.
Deleted files list is compulsorily saved in a .LST file. Default .LST file is created in C:\Temp. There are 2 more options to determine the name and place of creation of the .LST file. (This feature added on a request from a user.)
If you delete files from a batch (.BAT) file, you can send the deleted files list for a set of files to C:\DELETED\BAK\DELETED.LST and another set of files to D:\DELETED\TXT\DELETED.LST and another set of files to E:\DELETED\DOC\DELETED.LST by setting the DSDELLST environment variable appropriately by using the SET command in the .BAT file.
Launches specified command on specified set of files across-directories.
You can Execute commands with arguments on files/directory/directory tree
Finds files matching specified filespec and leaves you in the file-found folder skipping specified number of previous file-found folders.
Delete and Launch Command operations can also skip specified number of previous file-found folders if that is what you want.
You can limit Delete and Launch Command operations to first file-found folder.
New Batch Mode switch suppresses [Y|N] prompt to run unattended batch commands. (This feature added on a request from another user.)
DELSPECial is also a file utility for recursively running any DOS command/executable. Provides the much needed across-drive across-directories functionality lacking in most DOS programs/commands.
Particularly useful to run any program and DOS command which by itself cannot handle files in many directories recursively.
Remember only the file extensions and do anything on any file across directories.
Finds files and passes them to specified command/executable.
Passes one filename per invocation of the specified command/executable.
Has special switch to pass user specified file specification to the invoked command/executable instead of one filename per invocation.
Specified command/executable can be invoked once per matching file or once per directory with files matching given specification.
View, edit, or just do anything using appropriate helper application.
Directories will not be removed even if all the files in it match given file specification and get deleted. (To delete directories too: Test the improved version).
With appropriate helper applications in hand, brings whole disk drive under control.
Even DOS pipes can be employed while invoking the specified command/executable.
Ctrl-Break and Ctrl-C instantly stops file deletion. Useful for stopping the wrong command.
Setting SCROLL LOCK ON when the program is running stops next invocation of specified command.
Runtime new directory creation in destination directory is possible.
